The implementation of New York state’s expanded bottle bill will have to wait. Late last week, U.S. District Judge Thomas Griesa delayed the start of the revised law, which legislators had expanded to include container deposits on bottled water, until April 1, 2010, according to The Business Review (Albany) newspaper. The new law had been scheduled to take effect on June 1.

In May, the International Bottled Water Association and Nestle Waters North America sued the state, arguing that the revised law gave manufacturers insufficient time to comply and also that the law was unconstitutional because of its impact on commerce in other states, according to the newspaper.
