Federal DOT to Hold Distracted Driving Summit

U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood has announced that the federal Department of Transportation will hold a summit on Sept. 30-Oct. 1 on the dangers of text-messaging and other distractions while driving.

According to the DOT’s Web site, the summit will include “senior transportation officials, elected officials, safety advocates, law enforcement representatives and academics.” The National Solid Wastes Management Association will be among the participants.
