According to a report in the Daily Herald newspaper, approximately 70 retailers in Lake County, Ill., have launched a six-month plastic-bag recycling program. The stores — which include such nationally prominent chains as Walgreens, CVS, JCPenney and Piggly Wiggly — will place recycling bins near their entrances to collect the bags from residents.
The program is the creation of the Lake County Plastic Bag Recycling Task Force, which the Daily Herald describes as “a consortium of local and state politicians and people from the retail industry.”
