Saint-Nicolas, Quebec, Canada-based Labrie Environmental Group has won the 2009 Swedish Steel Prize. The manufacturer won the prize for its Wittke Starlight front-loader refuse-truck body.

“Labrie has come very far in the use of high strength steels,” said Martin Lindqvist, chairman of the Swedish Steel Prize jury, in a press release. “Their winning entry consists almost entirely of high strength steels. The designers have been successful in optimizing the design in order to reduce weight, but without compromising on strength and functionality.”

The Swedish Steel Prize was created in 1999.
