Revere, Mass., has expanded its single-stream recycling program citywide. The city uses the RecycleBank program as part of its single-stream recycling program.

The city began delivering 64-gallon recycling carts to its 15,000 households this week. Distribution should be complete by the end of the month. Last year, single-stream recycling was launched in approximately 3,000 Revere households. Those residences increased the total amount of material they recycled by 167 percent after converting to single stream.

The RecycleBank program encourages households to recycle by rewarding them with points based on the amount they recycle. The points are redeemable at local and national retailers, restaurants and grocery stores.
