Waste Services Inc. Attributes Revenue Increase to Acquisitions

Burlington, Ontario, Canada -- Waste Services Inc. has reported $72.6 million in revenue for the second quarter ended June 30, 2004, compared with revenue of $31.3 million for the same period in 2003. The company attributes this year’s increase to acquisitions of Florida Recycling Services Inc. and Allied Waste Industries’ Jacksonville, Fla., operations. Operating income for the company increased from $3.5 million in 2003 to $8.7 million in 2004. However, the company also reported a net loss of 21 cents per share, or $18.6 million.
