Texas Disposal Systems Launches Residential Reminder Service

Waste management co. Texas Disposal Systems has launched a customized waste collection reminder tool—Waste Wizard—for residential customers across Central Texas.

Through the Waste Wizard tool, available on both the TDS website and Facebook page, residents are now able to find their collection schedule, sign up for collection day reminders, and be notified of any service changes. With the tool, residents can sign up for a waste collection reminder via email, phone call, or text message. Residents can also download collection schedules into iCalendar, Google Calendar or Microsoft Outlook Calendar.

Once residents sign up for reminders via the Waste Wizard, they will begin to receive customized reminders for their collection services. They will also be notified of any schedule changes due to inclement weather, holidays, truck issues or route changes, and any upcoming events.  Residents will also receive information about seasonal campaigns, such as bulk garbage pickups, leaf collection and Christmas tree recycling.

The new Waste Wizard tool offers more than just reminders and service alerts. The tool also includes a “What Goes Where?” feature, where residents can confirm where items should be sorted in residential waste streams, including waste and recycling. Additionally, the tool offers a game, Eco Sort, which teaches proper disposal techniques. This game allows residents of all ages to build their own virtual park and print out a certificate of completion.

The Waste Wizard tool is the newest way that TDS is partnering with and educating local communities about managing resources in an environmentally friendly way. Additionally, the digital format of the Waste Wizard tool will enable TDS to reduce the amount of paper printed, cut down on pollution from manufacturing and delivery, and divert material away from the landfill.
