West Hartford, Conn., to Switch to Weekly Recycling

West Hartford, Conn., is making the switch over to weekly recycling on July 3. The weekly curbside recycling services, which will be offered on the same day as weekly trash pickup, will be provided by the town’s new hauler Paine’s Inc.
West Hartford was spending $3.6 million for weekly garbage pickup and biweekly recycling pickup, but under the new 10-year contract with Paine’s, the city will pay $2.3 million for weekly garbage and recycling pickup.
Hartford Courant has more:
Starting next Monday, West Hartford residents will have the option to bring recyclable materials to the curb for weekly pickup.
Weekly pickup stemmed from a new, favorable contract with Paine's Inc. recycling and disposal company and feedback from residents requesting weekly pickup this past winter, public works director John Phillips said Monday.
Recycling will be done on the same days as regular trash pickup. Next week's holiday, however, will delay trash and recycling pickup by one day, Phillips said.
