Aldi UK is continuing its sustainability moves by announcing that it is deploying recyclable wrap packaging on two of its own-label butter lines.

Aldi’s latest move follows the company’s transition to 100% PET recycled wine bottles for its own brand of wine and implementing AI in stores to trach flexible plastic packaging. The recyclable wrap packing on its butter lines is said to be a “UK supermarket first” and will impact Specially Selected West Country and Yorkshire Block butter.

According to Aldi, this move will help remove “more than 10 tonnes of non-recyclable packaging from circulation each year.” The move will roll out to customers starting in June 2024.

“We are committed to minimizing plastic packaging at Aldi, and we are constantly exploring ways in which we can make a meaningful change to our products,” said Luke Emery, Plastics and Packaging Director at Aldi.
