Santa Rosa, Calif., Asks Public for Input on Waste Contract
The city will hold two public meetings to discuss the future of the city's waste services.
The City of Santa Rosa, Calif., recently parted ways with North Bay Corp., its long-time waste contractor, after a scathing audit. North Bay’s contract ends in 2017, and the city is now turning to residents and businesses for their input on the type of hauling and street sweeping services they want from their next waste contractor.
The city will hold two public meetings to discuss these topics. The first meeting will be held on Thursday, September 1, and the second meeting will take place on September 7.
The Press Democrat has more information:
How garbage, recycling and yard waste is collected in Santa Rosa, by whom, and how much rates will increase are all questions the city begins wrestling with at public meetings beginning this week.
Before soliciting bids from companies interested in landing its lucrative garbage contract, Santa Rosa is holding two meetings to find out what kind of garbage services its residents and businesses want.
The first takes place at 9 a.m. Thursday in the City Council chambers. The second will be held Sept. 7 at 7 p.m. at the Finley Community Center, Cypress Room, 2060 W. College Ave.
