RI Legislators Set to Implement New Plan for Recycling Mattresses

Unwanted mattresses are a problem for landfills and homeowners alike.

But Rhode Island lawmakers have come up with a solution that will be implemented May 1.

State legislatures have adopted practices established by Bye Bye Mattress, which describes itself as a mattress recycling program. It was established by law and is operated by the non-profit Mattress Recycling Council.

You might think there's nothing good in a used mattress, but the wood, foam and steel are recyclable.
