Fire and Explosion at Maryland Waste Management and Recycling Facility

A gas tank exploded at Sun Services, a waste management and recycling company, based in Beltsville, Maryland. Firefighters were called and found the warehouse had smoke at the front of the building.

The warehouse recycles construction materials and a medium-sized pressurized gas tank was in the recycling material, which was unknown to workers. The tank exploded upon entering the shredder. The preliminary cause of the fire was accidental.
