Indian River County Takes No Action on Waste Management Performance Bond

County commissioners Tuesday said they won't penalize Waste Management by taking some of the money it's posted to guarantee good performance, but they sent a strong message to company officials they expected immediate improvement.

"What we need to do is focus on the customer-service aspect of this and get people serviced," said Commissioner Bob Solari. "We'll have plenty of time to worry about (penalties) later."

Complaints have decreased over the past few days, yet commissioners told Waste Management they continue to hear about missed pickups and missing carts.
