The Moorhead, Minn., City Council will vote tonight on whether the city will make the switch to single stream curbside recycling. Currently, residents are required to separate their recyclable materials into designated bags or containers.
If the City Council votes in favor of single stream recycling, residents would be able to recycle more types of materials than they do now, and they would pay a higher fee for collection services. The new program would begin in July 2017.

The city of Moorhead is poised to change how it handles curbside collection of recyclable materials.
The City Council will vote Monday night, Sept. 12, on whether to switch Moorhead to single-stream curbside recycling, which would mean residents would be allowed to pile all of their recyclable materials into one 95-gallon container.
Residents are now required to separate various types of recyclable materials—metal, plastic, cardboard, glass—into separate bags or other containers.
