Waste Management will own and operate a landfill gas-to-energy (LFGTE) project in Ottawa, Canada, that will generate 6.4 megawatts of electricity. That’s enough to power approximately 6,000 homes, according to a press release.
The press release does not specify when the facility will begin operations. The LFGTE project demonstrates “what can be accomplished when governments and individuals work together on a shared vision for a better future,” said Ontario Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Brad Duguid in a press release. “We look forward to seeing more of these projects, which will clean up our air, create jobs and make Ontario a destination of choice for renewable energy development.”
