Alabama Recycling Center Dealing with Busiest Time of the Year Following the Holidays

Following the holiday season, the Montevallo Recycling Center in Alabama is catching up following its busiest time of the year.

Notably, December 27 and 28 are the two busiest days of the year for the recycling center. Residents arrive ready to dispose of their cardboard boxes, wrapping paper, and other recyclables following the gift-giving season.

In 2022, the center collected about 65 tons of materials to be recycled.

"The goal has never been to make money with our recycling center," said Kirk Hamby, director of public works for the city of Montevallo. "It's just to keep everything recyclable, reused, and out of the landfill."
