Residents in San Antonio, Tx. are claiming their health is at risk due to multiple fires at a nearby recycling center over the last few years.

Since 2019, the Monterrey Iron and Metal facility has seen six massive fires with the most recent fire happening back in September, which burned for more than 10 hours.

Locals gathered Thursday evening to discuss their ongoing concerns about the fires. Texas Sen. Jose Menendez, Rep. Liz Campos, and zoning supervisor for the city of San Antonio’s code enforcement division, Roxy Ramirez, were on hand for the discussion.

Residents want to be sure that the recycling company is following health and safety rules and want to learn exactly what has been causing the multiple fires at the facility.
