Waste, Recycling Hauler Emterra Partners on CNG Expansion

Waste and recycling hauler Emterra Group is partnering to build and operate the largest compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling station in Ontario, Canada, in part to fuel Emterra’s CNG fleet.

The Burlington, Ontario-based Emterra is partnering with U.S. Gain, an Appleton, Wis.-based subsidiary of transportation products firm U.S. Venture. The station will be located in Mississauga, near Toronto, according to a news release.

The new station, which will be operated as Gain Clean Fuel, will supply Emterra’s 120 waste and recycling collection vehicles based in Mississauga. The facility also will be open to other companies with CNG fleets.

The move is part of Emterra’s plan to convert its fleet to natural gas. By the end of this year, Emterra will have more than 200 recycling and waste collection natural gas trucks operating throughout Canada.

“Converting our fleet to CNG is the next logical step for our company to fully live our mission of improving the environment,” said Emmie Leung, Emterra founder and CEO.

Emterra provides recycling and waste management service for commercial, industrial, institutional and municipal customers throughout Canada and in Michigan.
