American Disposal Adds CNG Waste Trucks in Virginia
American Disposal Services said it has added two compressed natural gas (CNG) waste collection trucks, the first in the northern Virginia.
The Manassas, Va.-based American Disposal said in a news release that it will add three more CNG trucks to its fleet this month.
The moves are part of the company’s long-term plan to replace every diesel-powered truck with a CNG counterpart. The waste and recycling hauler will not buy any more diesel collection vehicles, it said.
The company also is nearing completion of its single-stream recycling facility, the American Recycling Center, in Manassas.
“It’s very important (to us) to practice what we preach,” said Larry Edwards, American Disposal president. “Especially with the opening of our new recycling center, our commitment to sustainability and the environment has grown even more.”
