Red River Waste Solutions LP has delivered its first compressed natural gas (CNG) truck to its waste collection fleet in Council Bluffs, Iowa, and plans to add nine more to its fleet there by 2016.

The Dripping Springs, Texas-based Red River has a goal of “Go Green with CNG” and is reviewing all company operations, including the results of the new fleet in Council Bluffs, to consider increasing its CNG fleet in the future, according to a news release.

“We recognize the ability we have as an organization to improve the environmental quality in our local service areas, and we are proud to be able to bring the first CNG powered garbage and recycling trucks to Council Bluffs,” said President Weldon Smith.

Red River has provided waste and recycling service to Council Bluffs since 2008. It noted the strong public-private partnership it has developed with the city through the years.

Red River provides residential and commercial waste and recycling collection service in eight states.
