Santek Waste Services Inc. has bought two waste and recycling companies in Georgia for an undisclosed amount.

The Cleveland, Tenn.-based Santek said in a news release it purchased Evans Recycling, based in Calhoun, and Davis Disposal, headquartered in Ringgold, both in northwest Georgia.

The Evans Recycling transaction includes a multiple-stream material recovery facility (MRF) at the Redbone Ridges Landfill in Calhoun, Ga. Santek has a long-term agreement with Gordon County to manage that landfill and will operate the MRF to complement its industrial waste reduction efforts.

The purchase of Evans is Santek’s first recycling acquisition and allows it to expand its partnership with Calhoun-based carpet maker Mohawk Industries Inc. in the northwest Georgia market, said Santek president Eddie Caylor.

 Davis Disposal allows Santek the opportunity to expand its residential collection service into the north Georgia market. Davis Disposal owner Randy Holliefield will remain with Santek.

“It’s an exciting time in the life of our company, and we’re evaluating other opportunities which are strategic to growing our hauling operations and our landfill partnerships with local governments,” Caylor said.

Both companies will become subsidiaries of Santek, which manages 16 solid waste landfills, three transfer stations and four waste collection companies in a nine-state region. The company employs 340.
