York Solid Waste Authority Extends Covanta Contract

Covanta will continue to operate the York County Resource Recovery Center through the end of 2035 under a contract extension.

The agreement was announced Thursday by the company and the York County Solid Waste and Refuse Authority, which owns the waste-to-energy facility in Manchester Township.

“This agreement positions the authority and Covanta to continue serving York County’s municipal solid waste management needs well into the future by ensuring reliable and outstanding operation of the RRC,” David Vollero, the authority's executive director, said in a news release.
