EPA orders construction companies to remove waste from Arizona river

Last week, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Washington, ordered Tucson, Ariz.-based Triumph Builders and Benson, Ariz.-based D. Fenn Enterprises to remove demolition debris from the San Pedro River in Arizona. According to a press release, D. Fenn Enterprises illegally dumped concrete, metal, pipes and other debris into the river without authorization following a 2003 construction project that Triumph Builders supervised. Both companies have been ordered to transport the waste to a landfill, after which the river must be restored.
