WASTEC Announces Subcommittee Meetings

The Washington-based Waste Equipment Technology Association (WASTEC) will hold three subcommittee meetings June 25-26 in Chicago to discuss revisions to current standards regarding refuse vehicles, balers and compactors. The meetings will take place at the Sheraton Four Points near O’Hare International Airport.

Subcommittee 1 on mobile equipment will discuss ladders, fall protection, rear load container lifting devices, battery disconnects, warning alarm for raised arm/hoist in the upright position, front loader hopper dimensions and front fork compatibility dimension.

Subcommittee 2 on stationary compactors will discuss deletion of the word “Stationary” from Stationary Compactors; labels and decals; general instructions for proper clearances, ground faults and locations; guards; lockout/tagout; and power supply cords.

Subcommittee 5 on balers will meet and discuss startup alarms for continuous operating balers; safety signs and warning labels, potential effect of UL motor testing standards; and CE risk assessment procedures and safety categories.
