The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has approved Waste Management’s request to expand its landfill in Franklin County, Pa., by 82 acres.

According to the permit granted by the state, the Mountain View Reclamation Landfill’s average daily trash volume will rise from 1,500 tons per day (tpd) to 1,800 tpd. The maximum daily volume will increase from 1,850 tpd to 2,000 tpd. Waste Management will pay for traffic improvements along the routes around the facility.
