Wisconsin Residents Set E-Waste Example

Lynn Schenkman

Madison, Wis. –- Madison collected 29,684 pounds of electronic waste (e-waste) at its seventh semi-annual Computer Round-Up, which was sponsored by the city of Madison, Madison PC Users Group and Cascade Asset Management, the primary e-waste recycler in the area. Sharps Electronics covered the cost of recycling its own equipment. More than 350 households participated, and organizers estimate the collection effort kept 1,331 pounds of lead from going to area landfills. Televisions, computer monitors, keyboards, cases and laptops topped the roster of items residents brought in.
