Over 2,000 gallons of untreated wastewater has spilled into the Neuse River Basin in Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina.
The wastewater was discovered last week, and, according to the Town of Fuquay-Varina, the untreated wastewater was discharged from a damaged pipe. That wastewater flowed into Middle Creek in the Neuse River Basin.
Crews stopped the discharge and repaired the damaged pipe. The spillage has been cleaned and the area has been inspected with no detrimental impact observed to the surrounding area.
