A historic market in Cleveland, Ohio is set to divert its food waste.
The West Side Market has provided residents with fresh produce, meats and other consumer goods for more than a century. Now, the city has partnered with Rust Belt Riders to accept waste from the facility for its composting operations.
Hunger Network, a local nonprofit, will distribute all excess food still fit for consumption to city residents experiencing food insecurity. This was made possible with a $60,000 grant.
