NYC Organics Expands to the Bronx, Queens

In 2014, New York City announced that its NYC Organics program, a food scrap and yard waste recycling program for residents, would expand to parts of Queens and Brooklyn. Now, about three years later, the program is expanding again to more areas of Queens and the Bronx.

Bronx residents living in Riverdale, Fieldston, Baychester, Eastchester and Woodlawn have received their bins and will begin receiving curbside collection services this week. Queens residents living in Flushing, College Point, Whitestone, Jamaica Estates, Hollis Hills, Hillcrest, Fresh Meadows, Utopia and Pomonok will soon receive their bins and begin receiving curbside collection services the week of October 2.

Bronx and Queens residents will soon have another recycling bin to set out.

NYC Organics, the city’s food scrap and yard waste recycling program, is expanding to more neighborhoods in the two boroughs, the Department of Sanitation announced this week.

Beginning this week, the department will be collecting food scraps, food-soiled paper and yard waste from Bronx residents living in Riverdale, Fieldston, Baychester, Eastchester and Woodlawn.
