Republic’s Huizenga To Retire as Chairman

Fort Lauderdale, Fla. — Republic Services Inc.’s board of directors has named James E. O’Connor chairman-elect, effective immediately. Mr. O’Connor will succeed H. Wayne Huizenga, who is retiring from his position as company chairman on Dec. 31, 2002. Huizenga will remain on the company’s board.
