Hawaiian Divers Dredge Sea Trash, State Faces Cleanup Issues

Honolulu – Divers have hauled in 30 tons of debris from reefs around the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands. But 100 tons remain at sea, including plastic netting, which the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration fears is damaging the reefs by emitting heat. According to the organization, the collected trash will be sent to a recycling company where it will be burned to generate electricity.
