Jefferson, ID Approves $1 Million Purchase for Landfill Expansion

A $1 million purchase for 36.6 acres has been approved by the Jefferson County Board of Commissioners, which will be used for the County Line Landfill’s expansion and as a gravel pit for the Road and Bridge Department.

A $1 million purchase for 36.6 acres has been approved by the Jefferson County Board of Commissioners, which will be used for the County Line Landfill’s expansion and as a gravel pit for the Road and Bridge Department.

County Commissioner Roger Clark says the area will help support Road and Bridge for the next 30 years as the current gravel source is reaching its end of life. The former gravel area will then be used to accommodate any necessary expansions for the existing landfill.

“[This is] Something for the long term,” said County Commissioner Scott Hancock. “As we said, to take care of the county for the next thirty years which we believe is very important.”

The land is adjacent to the County Line landfill.
