World's First Commercial Capstone Microturbine LFG System Installed

Pittsburgh — The IT Group Inc., Monroeville, Pa., and Capstone Turbine Corp., Chatsworth, Calif., have announced that EMCON/OWT Solid Waste Services, Mahwah, N.J., a unit of the IT Group, has installed the world's first commercial Capstone Microturbine landfill gas (LFG) system at the city of Burbank, Calif.'s landfill. The 10-microturbine system will generate approximately 300 kilowatts of gross electricity that will be sold to the local grid through the city of Burbank Water and Power agency.
