Next week, the Bassetlaw District Council in the UK will look to introduce curbside glass and recycling collections as well as weekly food waste collections for residents.

On Tuesday, Nov. 26, Cabinet members will meet to discuss proposals to bring glass recycling to homes while furthering the council’s progress toward meeting legal recycling requirements. The new plan will see every household receive a 180-liter glass recycling bin, with collections happening every six weeks.

“These proposals will bring significant benefits for all residents but especially those living in rural communities where their nearest bring-it site may be several miles away,” said Councilor Darrell Pulk, Cabinet Member for Environment and Energy.

“As well as helping the council meet the latest legal requirements for recycling, it would also meet our Vision 2040 pledge to increase recycling rates by introducing food waste and glass collections at the curbside.”
