Ferris, Texas, OKs Landfill Expansion

Members of the Ferris city council received an update on a proposed expansion of the Skyline Landfill belonging to Waste Management. The proposed expansion will add approximately 17 years to the life of the landfill.

“It has been close to a year since I came year with the status of the landfill and I wanted to give you a current status,” Rick Losa, of Waste Management, said.

“I feel we are close to the end of the review process. The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) sent out notices for public comments from the public and business on Jan. 26, 2015. There will be a public hearing held by the TCEQ for final comments,” Losa said.
