Gibraltar, Mich., Officials Decide Against Countywide Landfill

After years of talks and negotiations, the Gibraltar City Council decided once and for all not to negotiate a new host city agreement with the owners of the Gibraltar Land Company. The company operated Countywide Landfill.
Owners had been seeking to reopen the landfill and acquire a permit from the county for a vertical expansion. After going over all the details, city officials and the company couldn’t come to terms.
