Electronic Recyclers International Partners with University of Pennsylvania

Electronic Recyclers International (ERI) has agreed to partner with the University of Pennsylvania on its environmental project.

The Fresno, Calif.-based electronic waste recycling firm is collaborating with the university’s Wharton School of Business’ Initiative for Global Environmental Leadership (IGEL) on initiatives that combine bond sustainability and business best practices, ERI said in a news release. The academic partnership also aims to develop the next generation of sustainability solutions for electronic recycling and the community in general.

Also, university faculty and researchers will exchange knowledge with ERI regarding sustainability, industry and community leadership.

Additionally, Wharton and IGEL faculty and researchers will participate in an open knowledge exchange with ERI regarding sustainability, industry and community leadership.

“Partnerships with leaders of industry such as ERI are essential to our research, teaching and thought leadership efforts,” said Joanne Spigonardo, senior associate director of business development of IGEL. “This collaboration can yield practical real world results and cutting edge solutions for problems ranging from curbing the glut of e-waste entering our waste stream to digital security to electronic recycling best practices in general.”

John Shegerian, ERI chairman and CEO, has been given a seat on the IGEL Advisory Board. “For us, the IGEL partnership offers a number of benefits, including access to faculty and research at one of the world’s leading business schools and the opportunity to contribute and share our experiences and best practices with these thought leaders,” he said.
