Lincoln, Neb. has chosen a company to build and operate a biogas facility, turning the city’s landfill methane gas into renewable natural gas that can be sold.

Following 10 responses for proposals, Lincoln chose Sparq Renewables, an Oklahoma City-based company, to build a $50 million facility at the landfill. The city plans to enter a 15-year contract with Sparq Renewables, with two five-year renewals. Lincoln officials estimate the project will generate $96 million over the next 20 years.
