NYS Landfill Ban on Electronics Causing Confusion Among Consumers and Business

One of the problems living in a disposable society is the amount of old electronic equipment that residents accumulate.

The problem has been growing in recent years as technology advances so quickly that everything from cell phones to televisions and computers become quickly outdated.

Many of those devices contain hazardous materials such as lead, and that's why New York State has made it illegal starting January 1, 2015 for any consumer to dispose of electronic equipment in landfills, waste-to-energy facilities, in the trash, or at curbside for trash pickup.
