WM held a ribbon cutting event last week to kick off its $20 million in improvements to its hauling station in Rochester, Minn.

The improvements are part of an effort to lower toxic emissions that will span over multiple decades. The new 36 compressed natural gas vehicles that will be phased into the company’s operation will emit 90% less nitrogen oxide than traditional diesel vehicles.

“The upgraded shop makes this a better environment for our technicians to work and allows us to maintain things better as well," Frank Fello, WM’s vice president said.

"It reduces greenhouses emissions, so the move is good. We are currently facing a climate emergency so everyone should be doing their part to help with that," said State Rep. Tina Liebling (DFL).
