Vodafone Innovus has created a smart waste collection system for businesses and residents in Athens, Greece.

The company, which specializes in providing Internet of Things (IoT) services, has equipped refuse trucks with sensors that enable residents and business owners to connect with the hauler via a text message so they can carry their materials straight out to meet the refuse collector.

The ultimate goal is to manage the rubbish generated by the businesses in the heart of the city, the Triangle.

Vodafone Innovus, a subsidiary of Vodafone Greece, has created a smart waste collection service for businesses and residents in the commercial heart of city of Athens.

The company has equipped bin lorries serving the area with sensors that can identify and contact businesses when the vehicle is passing using a geofence.
