Beginning this week, residents of Brookline, Mass. will have access to drop-off locations around the town for food waste.

Food scrap drop-off bins will be set up at four different locations across Brookline. The bins are available 24/7 to residents and will be free of charge to use. The materials from the bins will be converted into compost by Black Earth Compost.

“We are excited to offer this opportunity for all residents to take action and fight climate change, and support the development of a more resilient, sustainable Brookline,” said Alexandra Vecchio, Brookline’s Director of Sustainability and Natural Resources.

“Composting is an incredibly important and effective tool to advance Brookline’s goal of achieving zero emissions by 2040.”
