Evansville, Ind. residents will soon have an easier time recycling glass in the city, utilizing new drop-off containers at Tri-State Resource Recovery.

Beginning this week, Evansville residents can bring their glass items to be recycled at Tri-State Resource, where they will be collected in large, blue containers. Labels will be on containers explaining what can and can’t be accepted.

"Markets are volatile, glass is heavy, it's not financially beneficial," said Mary Allen, a member of Zero Waste Evansville. "But we know there's a lot more benefits than just finance."

Allen notes that this is not a city project but the product of local businesses and individuals working together to make the program possible.

"Let's do this, let's do right, let's do it well," Allen said. "We want quality, clean glass that gets put back into the system."
