Explosive ordinance disposal (EOD) teams were called to a recycling center in Sacramento County, Calif. earlier this week to address a live device.

The Sheriff’s Office of Sacramento County says it first received a report of a suspected pipe bomb in the area around 11:15 a.m. The EOD team was sent to the reported location, determined the device was live, and commenced evacuations immediately.

The EOD team performed a controlled detonation and deemed the scene clear. The device in question was said to be a firework that had been manipulated into a pipe bomb.
