The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has proposed to include PFAS as hazardous waste by the country’s definition.
This new proposal would change the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, which doesn’t “clearly and accurately reflect the full authorities granted to the EPA by Congress,” the EPA said.
According to the Environmental Working Group, there are now more than 4,600 confirmed PFAS-contaminated sites throughout the United States.
