The National Solid Wastes Management Association (NSWMA) has announced the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has approved its request for a grant to perform driver safety training through the Environmental Research and Education Foundation (EREF). “The program will focus on driver safety and prevention of work-related motor vehicle accidents and fatalities, through space management training of up to 384 refuse industry drivers in 12 separate locations over a four week period,” said David Biderman, general counsel for NSWMA, in a press release.

The two-hour training sessions will be free of charge and are scheduled for March 2008, although the locations won’t be announced until January 2008.
