NWRA’s Women’s Council to Award $30,000 in Scholarships

The National Waste and Recycling Association’s (NWRA) Women’s Council, which fosters the professional development of women in the waste industry while striving to increase their business, financial and leadership skills through education, workshops, mentoring and networking, offers scholarships to students in pursuit of a career in the environmental industry. These scholarships are limited to employees and dependents of NWRA member companies who wish to pursue a career in the solid waste and recycling industry.

At WasteExpo in April, the Women’s Council will award four individuals with $7,500 to put toward their higher education tuition. In addition, the Women’s Council will host the Carts on Display art competition, which encourages entrants to decorate carts with works of art that promote environmentalism and/or represent WasteExpo’s 50th anniversary theme, “Rockin’ it Since 1968.”
