Republic Services, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., has announced the sale of Living Earth Technology Company (LETCO), a stand-alone compost, mulch and soil business in Texas, to Hunt Special Situations Group for $37 million.

"The divestiture of non-core assets is consistent with Republic's long- term business strategy," said James O'Connor, chairman and CEO of Republic Services, in a press release. "The sale of LETCO allows Republic to continue to focus on our core business which is the collection, recycling, transfer and disposal of municipal solid waste."
