Southern Waste Relocates Headquarters within Florida

Southern Waste Systems (SWS) is moving its headquarters within southern Florida.

The waste and recycling company is relocating to Davie in Broward County from nearby Lantana in Palm Beach County. The company said in a news release 55 corporate personnel will make the move to the new office at 2380 College Ave. by the second quarter of 2012.  

The company’s trucking operation and staff moved to the facility in late December. When SWS completes the move approximately 150 employees out of a total of 450 will work from the Davie location. SWS operates three Florida recycling facilities in Deerfield Beach, Pompano Beach and Dania Beach, the company said in a news release.  

“This move will allow us to be even more focused on assisting the residents and businesses in Broward County in their goal to increase recycling,” said Charles Gusmano, Southern Waste Systems president and CEO.  “In addition, it will make us more efficient, since Davie is centrally located in our overall customer service area.”  SWS will continue full operations at arecycling facility and maintenance and truck depot at its old Lantana headquarters location.  

SWS currently has a large presence in Broward County through private contracts with the city of Lauderhill, private commercial businesses and ownership of the three recycling centers. The company has 12 facilities that serve a six-county area in south Florida, from Miami-Dade to Indian River.

SWS operates four separate business units – Southern Waste Systems, Sun Recycling, Sun Disposal and All-Star Toilets.
