Veolia ES Solid Waste Inc., Lombard, Ill., has acquired the landfill and hauling operations of Waste Management's subsidiary near Summer, Ill. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Waste Pro USA, Longwood, Fla., has announced the acquisition of A to Z Waste Services, Atlanta, the assets of Waste Management in Liberty County, Fla., and Choice Environmental in St. Lucie County, Fla.

In Memoriam David Baratti, vice president of sales and marketing for Heil Environmental, died on June 17 at his home in Chattanooga, Tenn. He was 45. Survivors include his wife Angelia and daughter Caitlyn. In his memory, the family has set up an educational fund for Caitlyn. To donate, make checks payable to Angelia J. In Memoriam Chuck Moody, publisher of American Waste Digest, died in Philadelphia on June 30. He was 60. Survivors include his wife Carasue; a son, Geoffrey Moody; and a daughter, Alicia M. Houser.
